Another week gone.

I have spent the last week working on a pattern for this dress and I think I am getting close to cutting it out. Got some black to use as an underskirt and got the pattern ready for that. A true labour of love this one.

Going shopping and I wore a top made from pattern NL 6901 made from scraps I had leftover from another top. The skirt is Vogue8296 which is such a great pattern I will make it again.

Bought a bunch of patterns and some fabric so with the labour of love dress and all of this I will be kept busy.

Sunday bloody Sunday

Well I am officially bored.
I think I need some retail therapy but its hard without the readies so will have to wait a week.
Finished these last night. They look dreadful after sitting on the couch. Next time I will make a size bigger everywhere except the waist.

I think I will go make a dress out of the knit mesh I bought a couple of weeks ago.

Black Frill Dress

Too many photos of the same dress. I used mesh sleeves from a top I will never wear. Still trying to decide if I want to cut them shorter and add a frill of the spot.

Does the net really need another sewing blog or am I just being selfish?

A place to put all the pix of my sewing instead of boring the fb world.
A Suzi Chin pattern Butterick 5279. I love this pattern but I did't do a FBA so it is not a great fit. If I had not done so much hand sewing on it I would take it apart and redo the bodice. I got the fabric in Chicago on a recent trip there where I got to hang out with my good friend Ruth.
Fly Low and I on a very windy day.

Swarovski crystals at centre front. Self fabric plait which I put around the sleeves as well.

Now I just love this pink knit but stupidly used a 30 year old BevKnit pattern to make up this top. It was too big, the cowl was too heavy and was just overall uncomfortable to wear. So I recut and remade it using New Look 6901 and got a much better result. When I figure out how to drive this page I will put the other new top beside this one, in the meantime it is further down the page.

I have no idea what to call this fabric apart from frilly. I just fell in love with it and got 1.2m of it. $20 a metre so a bargain. I made a dress from it with black mesh sleeves. Looks great and I will wear it a lot.
My new faux suede skirt. I was in Lincraft in Sunnybank Hills and they were having a 50% off sale on some fabrics so I got 2m of this for $7.50 per metre. I should have got more. It's a fantastic fabric and just so nice to sew. I made V8296 view A and made little cuts in the overlapped seams so it looks a bit western. I need some boots to wear with it.

New Look 6901 the other view. Faux wrap top. Both tops in this pattern are really lovely. A great fit right out of the packet and easy to sew. I know I will make a lot of these. I am even thinking of how I can adapt this to a swimsuit.
This is the recut remade cowl top from above. NL 6901.

Vogue 1228 Vena Cava dress. I have mixed feeling about this dress. I made it up in a crepe de chine which is just gorgeous to wear but since losing heaps of weight I am not so much into sacks anymore. It looks okay with a belt tho so that is probably how I will wear it.
Pleat detail on sleeve. I didn't wan the tabs like the pattern called for so put 3 pleats in instead.
Front neckline pleat, Back has the same pleat.
Once I figure out how I will turn this pic around. This is V191 Michael Kors dress with twist detail. What a stunner! I just love this dress but it was tricky to make. The instructions leave a lot to be desired but I got there in the end. I now have a second and even third one planned including one for my wonderful sister.
Me in it. Very flattering dress.

This fabric I got in Chicago and is a beautiful sheer silk. I already have a top I like in the same fabric so cut a pattern from it and made this up. It looks better belted and luckily I had made up a scarf in this a couple of weeks ago so instant belt. I will make this again in a longer length to take to Bali with me and throw on over togs.
